BIENNIAL CONFERENCE The biennial conference of the above association concluded a three-day sittings on Wednesday evening last. The greater part of the discussions centredround the proposals which were framed . for a new award. Among the resolutions which were passed, with instructions that they be forwarded to tho Government, were the following:— “That in the opinion of this conference the time is ripe for the revision of the existing pensions system, for the purpose of establishing a national superannuation aoheme for all civilians, the amount payable in all cases to he sufficient to permit a reasonable standard of comfort to the recipients.” ‘‘That in order to properly clean printing offices, the Government he asked to have legislation framed under the Factory Acts, make provision for frequent cleaning o,f these offices by vacuum cleaners before or after working hours.” “That the Minister for Defence lie asked to gazette regulations under the Factory Acts, with the purpose of having mono metal tyne satisfactorily discoloured before being handled by workers.” “That natural light he insisted on for dav work and adequate artificial liuht for night workers in printing offices.”
