, ANNUAL CONFERENCE SUGGESTIONS TO THE GOVERNMENT REMITS PASSED The public service conference was continued yesterday, when a large number of remits were discussed. That the conference discuss the question of opening negotiations with the Bank Officers’ Guild for the piirpose of permitting members of the Publio Service Association joining tneir insurance scheme.

That the executive committee continue to press for an increase of salary (based on the association’s 1920 salary agreement with the Government) on account of the increase tif the living cost. That the association should advocaia the. family allotrances proposals as the best possible means of adjusting the anomalies that exist between married men with families on the one hand and married men without children and single men on the other.

That the executive council be empowered to form a sub-committee to meet a like committee appointed by the New Zealand Post and Telegraph Officers’ Association, and to sit with the P. and T. Officefs’ Association when questions of common interest are being discussed. That the Public Service Commissioner be urged again to grant in connection with the present influenza epidemic the leave concessions duiing previous influenza epidemics. That the question of repealing section 11, clauses 1 and 2 of the Appropriation Act, 1925. be discussed with the Public Service Commissioner, and in the event of Ihese clauses being repealed that the position involved be regraded in accordance with the average emoluments received by tlm officers concerned. That the minimum wage lor married men (£299 15s) per afitium be granted to all officers except In the cases in which a partly disabled man is incapable of doing the full work exnected of officers of his own class. That the immediate past president, provided he is a sitting member of the Ir.’.ecutive commjttee, shall be ex officio a member of the executive council. That where members so desire the amount of their subscription be deducted monthlv by the Treasury from their salaries (as is done in the case of subscribers to the National Provident Fund and insured members with the Government Life Insurance), and paid to the association’s account in Wellington.
