EMPRESS THEATRE

“RACING LUCK.”

Ooinedy abounds in every foot of tbs celluloid way of “Racing Luck.” today’s star feature at the Empress Theatre. Its central character is played bv Monty Bilks, a comedian with a name, ability, and an established reputation. He never lags in bis efforts to make “Racing Luck” a smashing, crashing comedy with a touch of nature that is sweeping, irresistible through the spell of romance and adventure. In “Racing Luck,” Monty Banks has what he claims is “good luck.” 'Lime and again he flirts with death, is so near that one can hear a golden harp playing, yet he comes out of his narrow escapes with flying colours. The leading lady is Helen Ferguson. In “Lovers in Quarantine.” her latest starring picture for Paramount, Bebe Daniels convincingly bridges the gap between an ungainly, ludicrous child with a secret admiration for her elder sister’s beau, to a beautiful, gorgeously gowned, poised woman who captivates that young fellow almost in spite of himself. The story is a screen version of the Broadway stage hit, “Quarantine,” by F. Tennyson Jesse, and includes Harrison Ford in a featured role opposite the star. Other big names in the cast are Alfred Lunt. Eden Gray, Edna May Oliver and Diana Kane. This is the second feature at the Empress. There are excellent supporting items, and splendid music by Sir M. Dixon and his orchestra.
