“THE MAN EATER”
SEAMAN BITES CONSTABLE , FINES AND - lODINE. Charged with assaulting a constable, John Kennedy, a seaman, appeared before Mr E. Page, S.M., yesterday morning. But what Kennedy actually did, as detailed by Sub-Inspector Harvey, was to bite the constable, good and hard, on the leg, inflicting a nasty flesh wound, to which iodine had ,to be applied. The constable, stated the sub-inspec-tor, was endeavouring to arrest Kennedy for drunkenness, but the seaman strenuously resisted. “Drink always goes to my head, and don’t know what I’m doing,*’ said Kennedy way of explanation. JThe magistrate imposed a fine of £5, in default seven dnvs’ imprisonment. For drunkenness, Kennedy was fined 10s, in default two dnj-s’ imprisonment.
