MIRAMAR TROUBLES

PRESSURE ON COUNCIL COST OF RAPID DEVELOPMENT. Another deputation from Miramar, evidently having in mind the fact that estimates time is near, waited upon the works committee of the City Council yesterday afternoon to complain of the bad state of the footpaths, reads and drains. They had no footpaths in many of the streeta, which were bad in summer time, rough and uneven, and in the winter practically unpassable. The worst parte were Devonshire road and Park road. The deputation comprised Messrs E. O. Thornton, O. L. Broubn, and W. Miller. Mr R. A. Wright, chairman, referred to the rapid development of the district, and how difficult it was for the finance to keep pace with it. The more rapidly they built, the more roads, water ana drainage were required. He asked them to prepare a list of the more urgent works, and submit them to the committee for consideration. The engineer, Mr A. J. ’ Paterson, said that under general ' expenditure there was £II,OOO on. the provisional estimates. for Miramar and Seatoun districts.
