ON THE RACECOURSE

BUT A TRESPASSER POLICE TAKE ACTION. James Alfred Martin, alias Thom** Burton, alias EH ward Martin, an Australian, by occupation a canvasser, recently attended the Dannevirke races. However, this man of many aliases had' been previously convicted of vagrancy, and had no lawful right to be on the racecourse. The police stepped in with the result that Martin appeared before Mr E. Page, S.M., yesterday morning charged with trespassing on a racecourse. Whether he was having a “lucky day” up to the* time he was forced to leave the Dannevirke course is a matter known only to himself, but if this were the case his winnings would be somewhat reduced by the £0 fine imposed by the magistrate.
