CROQUET

DOMINION TOURNEY CONTINUATION OF PLAY YESTERDAY’S RESULTS Play was continued yesterday in all events of the Dominion croquet tournament, the day being ideal for the purpose, and all lawns were fully occupied, some games taking a very long time to decide. Play was of an interesting nature, only breaks of 4 and 6 and 10 points being registered, the latter by A. Ross in the championship doubles. Mrs Maddren broke down at the first hoop, and let her opponent in, and he took full advantage of the situation, and scored 10, and could have made more, but laid for his partner’s turn. The first “duck’s-egg” of the tournament was scored in the same event. Caughley and his partner failed to make the first Hoop. Play will be continued to-day, and some interesting games may be looked for. In the finals of the championship doubles, A. Ross and Mrs Johnson will play Mesdames Horn and Glass, and Sir Francis Wemyss * and Mrs Leech will meet Mesdames C. Watkins and Pitcaithlev. In the handicap double (semi-finals) Sir Francis and Lady Wemyss will meet Mesdames Leech and Johnson, and the winner will play Mesdames Stone and Magill in the final.
