SALE OF DRUGS
STRICTER CONTROL URGED APPALLING NUMBER OF ADDICTS. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July 22. That the Poisons Act should he amended to allow for more strict control of the sale of narcotics was the opinion of the North Canterbury Hospital Board expressed to-day by Mrs H. F. Herbert in moving: “That the board urges the Government to amend the Poisons Act on the lines suggested by the New Zealand Pharmacy Association so that the sale of narcotics can be more successfully dealt with.” Mrs Herbert stated that she had commented before nn the number of drug addicts she had come in contact with, and the number in the hospital. It was an appalling 6tate of affairs. The Rev. F, Rule seconded the motion. which was carried without discussion.
