SPECIAL MEETING TO DECIDE NOTICE OF MOTION TABLED The controversy in respect to the decision of the Wellington City Council to purchase an Amerioan roller, was revived yesterday when the Slayer mentioned that a notice of motion had been tabled by Councillor Monteith aiming at rescinding the council’s resolution, and calling for fresh tenders. Personally, said Mr Norwood, he wished to see the matter pushed forward to a definite conclusion, tor time was a vital consideration in the progress of the. council’s street works. He suggested either that the notice of motion be withdrawn, or that the council take it at the moment and dispose of the whole matter. The representatives of British manufacturing interests were, however, inquiring into the question as to whether a British roller of suitable design could be secured, and. he thought the reply should be forthcoming soon.
