BROWN SHIELD TEAM
Wellington selection The team which has been selected to represent Wellington in the Brown Shield game at Auckland is as follows:—McVean; Gibb and McGirr; McArthur, McKee, and Burke; Nicolle, MeElligott, Lothian, Campbell, and Ballard. Five of them come from Y.M.C.A.; Gibb and McKee from Hospital; McVean from Thistle; McElligott and Bourke from Marist; and Lothian from Scottish Wanderers. The weakness, it is said, is in the backs, as both are given to getting- down on the halfway line and even beyond it, and in the event of a break-away everything would devolve upon the goalie. Unless • either or both realise that one must keep back to cover the other this is likely to be a serious weakness in the team, and may lead to their undoing. Either Prince or Fitzgerald would have been better partners for McGirr, whose great performance last Saturday has been highly commended.
