WHY GERMANY FELL
FAITH LOST IN KAISERDOM LUDENDGRFF MISLED PEOPLE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received July 20, 5.5 p.m.) BERLIN, July 19. Professor Delbruck. one of the three expert members of the special committee which reported to the Reichstag on the causes of the German military collapse in 1918, accuses Ludendorff of deliberately misleading the German people, who afterwards lost their faith and confidence, and the nation lost its fighting power. The subsequent revolution succeeded, not because it was backed by overpowering foroe, but because the representatives of Kaiserism had lost faith in themselves. Professor Delbruck adds that the German Army unquestionably suffered defeat on July 18th and August Bth. He maintains that the Germans even to-dav are misled “by the reiteration of a phrase which is entirely meaningless, —that the army left the field unconqueredi.
