NOT LILY-WHITE?
AMERICAN AMATEUR ATHLETE INQUIRY IN ENGLAND. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, July 19. A surprise was caused during the presentation of trophies at Stamford Bridge, when it was announced that the medals won by, tho American athlete, L. Murchison, for the 100 and 220 yards would l»e withheld, pending investigations of his amateur status. The Athletic Association’s action in withholding Murohison’s trophies was due to the alleged payment of his expenses in Germany, where Murchison and Paddock recently competed. Murchison denies the allegations.
