DOMINION AFFAIRS
CO-OPERATION WITH BRITAIN MESSAGE FROM SECRETARY OF STATE GOVERNOR-GENERAL’S REPLY The Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, received the following message from Mr L. 8. Amery, M.R., on, the latter’s assumption of office as the first Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs “I should like to assure you and your Ministers of my earnest desire that the spirit of friendly co-operation which now happily exists should be maintained and strengthened. My hope is that the effect of the new departure will be so to pro mate mutual understanding of our common problems that the sphere of inter-com-munication , and consultation wall be enlarged with resulting good to the Empire as a whole. As the first holder of the office of Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs, I shall bo proud to work towards this object, (Signed) AMERY.”
His Excellency has sent the following reply: “My Ministers and I extend to you our warmest congratulations on your assumption of office as first Secretary ot State for Dominion Affairs. "We feel sure that the re-organisation which you have done so much to bring about will result in a >till closer co-opera-tion between the Governments of the Empire in matters of common concern. It gives us a special sense of satisfaction to know that the institution of this now office involves no change in the person of the Secretary of State, whose devotion to the cause of Imperial unity is as well-known here as it is in Great Britain.
