GOLD IN WELLINGTON

TAKEN IN PAYMENT AND CHANGE An unusual Incident happened in a drapery clearing house near the “Times” office on Friday evening. A lady went in and purchased a pair of blankets at 50s, and tendered two. £1 notea and a sovereign in gold. The proprietor was rather surprised at the unusual'tender. He went to the cash desk, made out a receipt, and handed it to his customer with a half-sovereign in gold as change. 'The lady waa more surprised than the proprietor, and evideutly the good old days must be returning.
