IMPERIAL MIGRATION WORK TO FILL EMPTY SPACES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, July 17. The “Morning Post,” in an editorial, urges a scheme of inter-imperial emigration upon a large scale. The “Port” says the people of Australia have created a vacuum and called it “White Australia.” Britain can fill that vacuum with the best settlers in the world, and thus save both herself and Australia. But it is not done. It is hardly even attempted. Requisite funds could be supplied by an Imperial loan. Railway engineers and workmen should first be dispatched, and then settlers, followed by their wives and children. EMIGRANTS FOR NEW ZEALAND LONDON, July 16. Lord Jellicoe and Sir James Allen farewelled a trainload of 610 emigrants sailing by the Hororsta for New Zealand, including 33 boys under the sheepownem’ scheme.
