DEATH OF BABY
UMBILICAL CORD SEVERED. MOTHER’S STRANGE ACTIONS. Per Press Association. , GISBORNE, February 26. The death of a newly-born child under unusual circumstances has been reported to the Gisborne police from Ruatorea. A young married woman, who had been acting as a waitress at the Ruatorea Hotel, failed to put in an apt pearance on Tuesday. A search was made, and - she was discovered in her room, having given birth to a child, which was dead. When the woman was dUqpvered the child’s umbilical cord had been severed. The mother was removed to the Tepuia Hospital. An inquest on the child opened, but was adjourned until March 2nd.
