BOY SHOT
ANOTHER PEA-RIFLE FATALITY. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, February 26. A distressing fatality occurred at Deborah Bay this afternoon, when a boy named Joseph Hugh Ledgerwood, aged 14 years, was fatally shot with a pearifle. The unfortunate lad and his. brother, aged 18, were playing with the rifle, which they did not know was loaded, when it accidentally exploded. One bullet entered the younger hoy’s stomach. The injured boy was conveyed by launch to Dunedin, and an operation was performed at the hospital, but it was found that the bullet had, entered A vital spot, and the lad succumbed.
