The Legislative Assembly, with the aid of the closure, read the Marriage Amendment Bill a third time by 41 votes to 23. The principal purpose of the -bill is to make it an offence to deny or impugn the validity of lawful mamage, or to omit, in the re-marriage of persons previously lawfully married, reference in the certificate to the fact that the persons have already been marThe hill went before the Legislative Council (the Upper House) early nj August, and it was cabled that the Oouncii had approved a clause aiming at the prevention of the publication of evidence or particulars of divorce actions, except the names, addresses, ana occupations of the parties. Whether this clause has been approved by the Assembly is not clear.
