OFFICE DECLINED
LEAGUE OF NATIONS UNION. MR MACDONALD’S GRIEVANCE, - 1 (Sydney “Sun” Cable.). LONDON, July 4. Although Mr Ramsay Macdonald is a staunch supporter of the I/©ague of Nations, he has refused to accept the honorary presidency of the League of Nations Union, which is an unofficial organisation carrying out propaganda on behalf of the league. Previous Premiers accepted the presidency. It is understood that Mr Macdonald cherishes a personal grievance because the founders of the union excluded the Independent Labour Party ' from membership. His refusal of the presidency is expressed in a curt note, and he also requests that no more of the union’s literature shall be forwarded to lim. Further developments are expected
