EXPLORATION PARTY

VALLEY OP PERTH. Per Press Association. HOKITIKA, March 19. A party, consisting of Drs Techelmann and Buchanan, and Messrs Kennedy and Ford, returned yesterday from six weeks’ exploration of the Valley of tho Perth, a branch of the Wataroa River. During most of the period unfavourable weather interfered with progress. The party reached the Sealey Pass and crossed to tho Godley Glacier, but mist and fog prevented a good view being obtained. They also reached the head of the Perth, where she saddles into the Rangitata and Adams Rivers’ Basins. The weather prevented any high asoents being undertaken. The explorers found the Perth Valley remarkable for rain and general cloudiness, when the rest of Westland appeared to he enjoying sunshine.
