THEFT OF MONEY
WOMAN IN TROUBLE. ADMITTED TO PROBATION. The theft of money from a boardinghouso resulted in the appearance at the Police Court yesterday of Grace Reitboagen, 32 years of age, who was charged with the theft of £9 in money, the property of Mary Weigman. . According to Chief-Detective Cameron, the accused and the complainant lived at the same boardinghouse in Cuba street, and during the absence of the latter the accused went to her rooms and took the money from a drawer. When questioned by the detectives the accused said she would make restitution if given an opportunity. The accused, said Chief-Deteo-tive Cameron, bad been convicted of theft in 1913. Mr W. E. Leicester, appearing for the accused, said that it was correct that the accused had been previously convicted in 1913, but had lived a straight life since then. The accused was admitted to probation -for a term of two years, a condition being that restitution be made within 14 days.
