MOTORING FATALITY

CAR GOES OVER BANK. DRIVER DIES FROM INJURIEB. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, January 24. A serious accident occurred on the Awakino Valley road yesterday, about three miles south of Malioenui, when a motor-car went over a bank and fell about forty feet to the water’s edge. The driver, Mr W. E. J. Canon, was thrown into deep water, and sustained serious concussion. He was rescued by the ladies of the party, and brought to the New Plymouth hospital in a critical condition. The other occupants—four ladies and two children —escaped practically unhurt. Mr Canon died in the hospital later. Ho was a farmer at Mimi, and had just returned from a motoring tour.
