IMPORTANT MATTERS DEALT WITH.

Some important matters were dealt with at the meeting held recently of the Grand Master and Board of Injectors of the New Zealand Branch of the Manchester Unity Independent- Order of Oddfellows.

Consideration was given to the War Members Relief Fund. (c) On receipt of tlu* report of tho 19oC valuation, tho amount to redeem and finally dose the fund is to 'he called up. Interest on the War Members’ Relief Fund due to districts is to be paid half-yearly. Tho meeting also dealt with the report from a delegation appointed at a previous meeting regarding the affairs of the United Westland District. Tho finances of many of the lodges in this district being impaired and showing a deficiency, al£ other districts arc contributing a portion of their surplus-33 towards maintaining a strong financial position. Tho board resolved that the district be required to change its registe<rcd office from Westport to Grcynmutii, with executive officers, consisting of the district secretary, district treasurer, and district trustees, resident in tho latter towr.; that the district bo called upon lo arrange for tho imirediae sale of Dennistnn and Reef ton hall properties, also the sale of tht? piano belonging to the Denniston lodge, end tho proceeds of the sales to be credited to the funds to which these moneyn belong, the deficiency in the Denniston Lodge Management Fund being liquidated by levies on the members of that lodge. Remaining lodpo investments are to he reviewed by the district and reported on individually to the society officers before February Ist, I^2*. It was decided that the following remit from the "Wanganui district he forwarded to the 8.M.C.. to be held at Nelson on April 7th, 1921. ‘‘That eteps be taken to amend the Friendly So • cieties Act to allow one per cent, over 5 per cent, interest earned from tho Sick and Funeral Fund to Management Fund.”
