GIRL AS A JOCKEY
RIDES THIRD IN RACE. LONDON, October 18. Wearing rogulation jockey’s silk colours and breeches, Betty Tanner, the daughter of a Newmarket owner, finished third in the Newmarket Town Plate. This is the first occasion on^ which a woman jockey has ridden in the race, which was open to the children of Newmarket residents. Three other girl aspirants were bitterly disappointed at the last moment, as they could not conform with this particular condition.
