WASTING FOR DEATH
JAP. SUBMARINE’S CREW. MESSAGES FOUND. (Sydney “Sun” Cable.) TOKYO, October 24. The recovery of tlie bodies of the crew of the submarine No. 70, which sank at Kobo on her trial trip ?n tbo middle of August, discloses that some of the men lived for several hours after tho plunge, and left messages showing that they met the end calmly and bravely.
A note in tho towel wrapped round, the head of the engineer, Shirokanc, sayn: “We are satisfied that wo have done our duty. We are now awaiting deatli.” Another note, written by the electrician, Aoki, says: “Goodbye, my family. I am rapidly sinking. If we arc saved I will agaiu work in submarines. Take earo of yourselves.”
