Owing to a dispute with the companies, the stage bands at several theatres refused to commence work when the curtains were ready to go up last night. (Received October 23, 10.25 p.m.) MELBOURNE, October 23. Tho theatrical proprietors are calling for volunteers, and are meeting with a big 2 expense. Many actois last night worked as scene-snifters, enabling most of the performances to be carried on. The companies and employees conferred to-day. The result is not known.
