TAPESTRIES STOLEN
FROM VERSAILLES SALON.
DARING THIEVES.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received October 24, 0,30 a.m.) PARIS, October 22. Thieves effected entry to the Salon do Mexcure at the Palace of Versailles by climbing a lightning conductor, and stole two gobelin tapestries of the Louis Quatorze period, valued at one million francs. The gobelins measured 16 feet by 20, and weighed 144 pounds. The thieves lowered them into a motor-car waiting in the courtyard.
