DROUGHT IN AFRICA

RUT EXAGGERATED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. CAPETOWN. October 22. The Premier’s office has issued, a statement that the reports appearing in the British Press to the effect that the drought in South Africa is the worst for 40 years, that cattle are dying liko flies, and that the ground is covered with locusts, are greatly exaggerated. The drought is severe in certain parts, but the rainy season is beginning. There is a severe visitation of locusts, but the Government is confident that it can be successfully coped with.
