MASSACRE OF KOREANS

AFTER JAPAN EARTHQUAKE. CENSORSHIP LIFTED. Australian and N.Z Cable Association. TOKIO. October 22. The bail hitherto imposed on the reports of the massacres of Koreans in the early days of the confusion after the earthquake lias been lifted, owing to greatly exaggerated rumours current. It is reported that the deaths of Koreans at the hands of “vigilantes” and other® exceeded 500 in the affected areas, and the adjoining districts, excepting Tokio, where the number is not yet stated. The police in Yokohama succeeded in affording protection to a large number of Koreans by transferring them tc ships in the harbour. Large numbers of perpetrators of the massacres are under arrest, and are being examined by the police.
