MOTORMAN’S PROMPTNESS
AND AN INDIGNANT YOUTH.
Some people appear to think that their eyes are put in their head for ornaments. The failure of a young man to use his eyes nearly cost him his life, and it would have been entirely his own fault if a serious accident had occurred. A tramcar was proceeding down Lambton quay yesterday afternoon, and when about 20 yards from Stewart Dawson’s corner a young man ambled across tlie tram lines. The car was only a few yards away when he commenced to cross, and by the time he was half-way across the tram line, the car was practically on him. If the car had not been equipped with air brakes, the motorman would never have 'been able to pull the car up witliin*half of its own length. However, the young man 'became very indignnnt with the car driver, but instead of becoming angry, he should have thanked Providence and the quick-minded motorman for having escaped very serious injury, if not death.
