WHAT COAL MINERS LOST. OFFICIAL FIGURES. Bv Telegraph—Press Assn—Copyright. SYDNEY, October lfl. Mr Rees, president of the Miners' Federation, informed the West Wallsend miners that the- recent stoppage as a protest against a local magistrate was one of the.most disastrous in the history of the federation, which had lost £166,000 in expenditure for relief in other directions. The Abermain Colliery was idle yesterday in consequence of 500 tons of earth and coal collapsing in the travelling tunnel a quarter or an hour prior to the miners entering for the day’s duties. Three hundred miners had gathered round the tunnel mouth at the time, proparing to enter.
