FLOGGING OF NATIVES

Canning, who was appointed by the Commonwealth Government to inquire into the allegations of the flogging and ill-treatment of natives in the mandated territory of New Guinea. It is stated ftiat the report, which is based on evidence supplied by the whole of the missionaries in the group—Wesleyan, Roman Catholic, and Lutheran—and also the Government officials and others, entirely and conclusively refuted the allegations made. The report will he dealt with by Senator Pearce on Thursday.
