DUNEDIN MANUFACTURERS

ASSOCIATION CANCEL AFFILIATION. STEAMER TO WEST COAST DESIRED. Per Press Association* DUNEDIN, October 16. At a meeting of the executive of the Dunedin Manufacturers Association held to-night it was unanimously agreed to cancel th© affiliation of the association with the Industrial Corporation of New Zealand. The question of the lack of steamer communication with the West Coast was also discussed, and the opinion freely expressed that the Union Company was not giving Dunedin adequate steamer service with the Coast. It was pointed out that it was some four or five weeks since the Company had put on a boat fer Dunedin, and that the business of local manufacturers and merchants was being severely affected, it was stated out that if the Union Company was not going to cater for the West Coast trade now that the Orira tunnel tfor Christchurch was crened. the Dunedin manufacturer* should be told, so that they could thcr. take steps to meet the position. _lt was decided to appoiht a deputation to wait- on the local branch of the Company.
