FALL FROM BRIDGE
DROWNED IN RIVER. Fer Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, October 16. Hugh Alexander Perkins, a single man, 34 years of age, formerly a captain in the Expeditionary Force, was drowned in the Waimakiriri, neat Stewart’s Gully, Koiapoi. Perkins, who belongs to Christchurch, was spending the fishing season at Stewarts Gully. While walking in single file across a railway bridge with two companions |he evidently slipped on the wet planks and disappeared. The night was wet and boisterous, and no success attended the rescuers’ efforts. The body has not been recovered.
