BOY WORRIED BY A DOG Leslie. Godfrey, a&ed nine,\ ov Coopersdle.Cojnmon, Bpping. Essex, was knocked down by an Aierdate dog, which Mauled him'as a cat does a mouse. The boy wc6 bitten from head to foot, and lie escaped further injury only .lyl crawling through a hedge. He was .taken to Epping Cottage Hospital, where his wounds were treated, and is now under observation for hydrophobia. The dog is only a year old, and its owner says it had been teased by boys and hno broken its leash. TRAGEDY AT A PICNIC The explosion- of a methylated spirit stove among a-picinc party at Goadaiming, Surrey, resulted in the death of Marion Cornell, aged • 21 months, the daughter of Mr Kobert Francis Cornell, a Herne Hill butcher. At an iuquest at Guildford, Harry Walker, a caterer, *nid one of the party was making tea.over the stove when it exploded. The child, who was standing close hy, was enveloped in flames, and died in Guildford Hospital. Death from misadventure was the - verdict, .
