A red squirrel successfully swam tb» rapids above the Niagara Falls recently, and just saved itself from (join? over the cataract. The squirrel fell into the stream from a log a few hundred vnrds above the brink "of the cataract, and tens swept out in the current._ It succeeded in reaching a rock some distance out in tile river. To thi« it clung while the waters of the rapids swept by. Roserva. tion employees saw its predicament, and they pushed a lone ladder out to tho rook. thinking the squirrel would scl-amble over it to the shore.
