THREE MONTHS’ GAIL
ACCOUNTANT PUNISHED. FAILED TO KEEP BOOKS. Per Press Association. HAMILTON, October 13. At the Police Court, John Chererton Kersey, a bankrupt accountant, formerly of Cambridge and Te An amutu, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment for failing to keep proper books. The magistrate said it was not the ease of an ignorant man ; bankrupt was an experienced accountant who must have known the necessity of keeping proper books. The official assignee had been at a great disadvantage in trying to administer the estate, owing to the absence of proper bookß, and creditors must have been affected a good deal.
