WANGANUI COMPETITIONS
CRITICISM BY CONDUCTORS. MR TEMPLE WHITE RECEIVES APOLOGY. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, October 12. The competitions concluded this morning. The following are medal winners:—Ladies’ vocal, G. E. Tarrant, Wanganui. Gentlemen’s vocal, S. Kendall, Wanganui. Elocution, boys, A. Treloar, Wanganui; ladies, Zita Chapman, Wellington. The local medal in the same section was won by L. Ball, Wanganui. Dancing section. Miss L. Broadnead, Wanganui. Shield for juvenile choirs, to Palmerston North. Girls’ elocutionary, J. Tonis, Hawera. In connection with an unpleasant incident which led Mr Temple White, musical judge, replying warmly to criticism by conductors of two local choirs, the members of the Baptist choir met Mr White before his departure at midday, and apologised for the conduct of their conductor.
