DRAINAGE WORK
FOR HAPPY VALLEY. OPERATIONS COMMENCE. Work has now commenced at Happy Valley for the new drainage system. Workmen have been detailed to commence laying the pipes ii» the main road, and have made good progress. This comes as a sequel to the representations made to the council in March last, when the questions of drainage and water supply were raised, and it was pointed out that cases of sickness had resulted from the consumption of ordinary creek water, which constituted a danger to the local residents. The sum of £2125 then appeared on the estimates for the district for drainage. The work having been put in hand, the matter of water supply will receive attention at a later date.
