By flying from Te Araroa, near East Cape, to, Invercargill in 29} hours’ flying time, three pigeons, belonging to a local fancier, David Strang, established a remarkable for a long-distance flight. The air-line was 820 miles, and the birds were liber a ted on Thursday at 5.2 a.m. from the coastal steamer Mako, which carried them to Te Araroa. They arrived at Invercargill on Friday at 7.46 p.m. The best previous performance on record for New Zealand was 8J days and Australia 11 days. ,
