' N.Z. METROPOLITAN CLUBACQUISITION OF FREEHOLD PROPERTY, - vsn press assooietiow. CHRISTCHURCH, .August 81. . As a result of the negotiations which have just been concluded, the Canterbury Park Trotting Club will take over the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s grounds at Addington when the latter removes to its new property - on RiccartCn road. Addington has become too small for their requirements, and- the Metropolitan Club recently acquired a freehold property -of 89. a&res opposite Dean’s Bush, two miles from the city. The preparation of plans for the buildings on the new course is now in baud. The appointments will be modern in every respect, and the racing track will he of grass. It will probably be two uare before the Metropolitan Club eaves Addington. -The Canterbury Park Club is faced with a large expenditure to bring the buildings on -its present course up. to date, and for a much smaller outlay it can obtain possession oj'. what is at tho best trotting property in the Dominion. Addington is held under; lease from the, Hospital Board. The . lease has nine years to run; ..but no difficulty is anticipated in securing a renewal.
