THE NEW VALUATIONS. A deputation of Hawera business men, introduced by Mr E. Dixon, M.P., put the request to the Prime Minister that the new valuation of the'borough be not operated until....prices become stabilised ; otherwise ~ there won!d A be serious injustice under preset conditions. Lessees were asking for reductions of rent, which property-owners considered justifiable, but which they would be unable to grant if the new values operated. Mr Massey said he was not sure if tho valuation could, he suspended; but when the Valuer-General returned to, Wellington next week he ‘would consult him and possibly request him to visit Hawera and investigate the position.
