MUSIC IN N.S.W.
THE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA. SYSTEM OF MEMBERSHIP. Rj Telegraph—Press A sen.—Copyright. SYDNEY, August 29. Mr George Portus, manager of the State Symphony Orchestra, explains that the organisation will continue on a co-operative basis, but will be entirely dissociated from any action hitherto undertaken. It is proposed to establish an orchestral league, which all lovers of music will be invited to join. The minimum fee is five shillings, and will entitle members to book seats at concerts for 2s 6d, the plans being opened in advance for their benefit. The funds so obtained will be used for the maintenance of the orchestra. In addition it is hoped that this step will promote the interest of the public.
