RUGBY MANAGEMENT

THE WELLINGTON UNION MEETING OF COMMITTEE. Tho weekly meeting of the management committee of the Wellington Rugby Union was hold last evening, the ohairman (Mr J. Piondeville) presiding. The secretary was authorised to arrange for tho playing of house matches. CASUALTIES' IN B TEAM. Some discussion took place concerning the incapacitation of certain players in the Wellington B team touring the West Coast districts. The chairman stated that Gihson, of the Wellington Club, had already left to join the team in place of Algar, who was unfit to play. Algar and Wylie, who were required by the respective teams for the finol senior match between ‘ I‘oneke and Petone next Saturday, de--1 dined to return. The . cnairman remarked that it was unfair for Injured men to expect the union te pay their ’ passages on a tourist trip. ’ Both matters were left in the hands 1 of the chairman and secretary, and it ’ was decided to communicate with the 1 manager of the team regarding the filling of tho vacancies. ; ’’ GENERAL MATTERS. It was announced that Langbein, of ; Christchurch, had been selected to replace Mcßao in the New Zealand Universities team to play the Sydney University team at Auckland on Saturday i next. i It was decided that tho third-grade ■ match between Borhampore and Upper i Hutt, sot down for next Saturday, should bo played at Upper Hutt instead of at Lower Hutt. Otago Union intimated that it was unable to make the match Otago v. ' Wellington on September 9th a shield match, as Hawke’s Bay had declined to count the match against Otago as such. -It was decided to ask the Otago Union to submit names of Dunedin refereeß i for the selection of an official to control the game. Tho Duppa street ground was allocated for the annual match between the Canterbury and Wellington Referees’ As- ■ sociations on September 2nd. Tho visiti ing referees were granted free access to the Athletic lark and stand for the Auckland - Wellington representative match on tho some afternoon. Permission was granted for tho playing of inter-college games as follow: Wellington, v. Wanganui, August 26th; Christ’s v. Wanganui. August 28th; Wellington v. Christ’s, August 30th. Mr H. McLeod was appointed manager of the Wellington junior representative team, which is to visit Christchurch on August 31st. The charge for admission to the Po neko-Petone match on Saturday was fixed at Is per head. THE JUNIOR COMPETITIONS.
