The first poultry club in the Sou them Hemisphere was formed. among the public school girls at Te Kniti today with a membership of fifty. Addresses were delivered by Mr O. E. Cuming, editor of the “Dairy Farmer,” and Mr E. Jarrett, poultry instructor to the Agricultural . Department. Each child was supplied with a hen, eggs, and hexes gratis, and a periodical inspection by Mr Jarrett will be further encouraged by competitions, etc. The children are already manifesting considerable enthusiasm.
