KIRKWOOD’S VISIT TO WELLINGTON. It had been arranged that J. H. Kirkwood, the Australian champion, and: his manager, J. V. East, of the Concord Club (Sydney), who haTe. just returned from a tour abroad, should play exhibition games in Wellington during this week, prior to their retuyn to Australia. The original idea was that Kirkwood should play Douglas at Miramar on Saturday, and be at Heretannga on Sunday, but thebe arrangements have now been cancelled. Circumstances have arisen which necessitate Kirkwood and East leaving Wellington for Sydney on Thursday, and the “New Zealand Times’’ was informed by telegram from Hamilton last evening that, rather than disappoint Wellington golfers,; they will play at Heretannga tomorrow. MATCHES AT AUCKLAND. THE VISITORS TSEIFEATED. For Frees Association. AUCKLAND, October 31. Kirkwood and East played exhibition games at the Auokland Club’s Links at il iddlemore. In the morning Moss, the club's professional, beat Kirkwood by 3 up and 2 to play. While H. B. Lusk, the club captain, beat Ehst by. 2 up and onq to play. In the afternoon Lusk and Moss beat .the visitors by 5 up and 4 to play. Kirkwood’s play was patchy; his approaching;, and putting were not good, but his driving was splendid.
