HEAVY TRAM TRAFFIC

SATURDAY'S BIG TAKINGS. The exceptionally heavy traffic on the corporation trams on Saturday produced a very big increase in the cash takings for the day, which amounted to £1096 7s lid. The total takings do not represent the full use which was made of the can, however, for many people who journeyed to the big football match at the Athletic Park tendered concession tickets. The tramway authorities coped with the traffic in a very efficient manner, and only one serious accident (in no way due to the fault of management or officials, it is said) was reported.
