LOWER HUTT AFFAIRS
BOROUGH COUNCIL MECEfTS. The fortnightlv meeting- of the lower Hutt Borough Council was bold in the 'Council Chambers last evening, the Mayor (Mr E. P. Rishworth) presiding. Present were: Councillors A. J. Hobbs, A. J. West, W. T. Strand, W. Cotton, W. Dempsey, J. Mitchell. J. Brassel, W. MetlcLrum, and A. Mcßain. The Minister for Finance WTo-te acknowledging the application to raise the gas and electricity loans. N. Wilmot wrote applying for a- crossing at Rand wick road ana the. matter was referre l to the engbwvxr for a report. The ratepayers of Shilling street wrote requesting'that their premises should be connected with the sewerage system.—lt was decided to reply that this is impossible at the present time. Reports from the council in committee finance committee, special gas committee, engineer and inspector were adopted. The finance committee recommended the council not to undertake the work of laying street pipes in the Hall-Jones settlement. In committee the council also had decided not to proceed with any new footpath work during the present year.
