EASTBOURNE RATES
SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL. ESTIMATES FOR .THE YEAR. A speciaJ meeting of the Eastbourne Borough Council was held last week, the Mayor (Mr F. H. Mather) presiding. Councillors H. W. Shortt, C. Hartridge, H. McGill, T. H. Giles, T. W. Pilcher, C. A. Marquis apd C. L. Glreen were also present. The business was the consideration of the estimates for the year 1921-22. After consideraible discussion the estimates, as submitted by the finance committee, showing » total expenditure on the district fund-account of £2966 2s 2d, were adopted. It was further resolved' that the council give motioe of its intention to moke and levy a rate of 3|d in the £ on the unimproved value of the rateable property in the borough; a hospital and charitable aid rate" .of 9-25 of. a penny in the £ on the capital value; a special rate of I<l in the £ on the unimproved value, on account of No. 2 loan of £4600; and an annual sanitation fee of 21s 6d on all properties in the. borough having a building erected thereon. '
