Lloyd’s Register of Shipping shows that the world’s tonnage pf iron and steel steamers is 54,217,000, compared with 42,614,000 in June, 1914. The United Kingdom has 19,288,000 tons, compared with 18,877,000; the I nited States 12.314,000, compared with 1,837,000; Germany 654,000, compared .with 5,098,000; Japan 3,063,000, pompared with 1,642,000. The number of ■vessels fitted with internal combustion engines increased from 290 to 1447, aggregating 1,263,000 tons. Vessels using oil fuel for boilers increased from 364 T to 2536, aggregating 12,797,000 tons. 1 Tho Register records the names of 33,206 vessels, aggregating 61,974,653 gross tonnage.
